Mining,Education and Chieftancy

Ghana is known around the world as a mineral producer Country and the mining towns are also known in Ghana but l have we ask what has really been going on in these areas such as what their needs in terms of portable drinking water,School buildings,Good roads etc.l took up this issue when l accompanied my Mother to Kumasi.
I believe that it was meant for me to see what was really going on in the mining towns which  includes(Obuasi,Dunkwa,Ayefrie,Wasa Akropong a.k.a West Africa,Tarkwa,Bogoso,Asankragua etc) which has and still making Ghana a mineral producing country and companies are also making it big time without any supervision from officials and even if there is,they are easily paid off to keep quite about certain things that must be spoken of in these towns. From Kumasi to Wasa Akropong is a three and half hour journey due to the deplorable state of the roads which l have always complain of pains in my waist, which also affects motorists and other road users. That situation has some how made the drivers in these towns to be some of the best the country could ever boast of.Now the main reason for this  post was what l saw on my way to Wasa Akropong which l hope the Government will force some authorities of Ghana high ways and the Mineral commission to do some thing before it gets out hands.
Please ask yourself whether you have ever walked a distance of at most three to four kilometers to school with your younger siblings and having to also carry one after the other when they are tried...Have You!!!!!!!...Your answer is NO,some YES..Cool.....
We started our journey at 5am and around 6 to 6:30 am there-about, that when l was seeing things for real...Obuasi has some social amenities that other towns don't have which is nearness of schools, portable drinking water, electricity and good roads etc......
By 7:00 am company vans were trooping to various mining sites and school children were also on their daily walking route to school which is normal to them.l thought it was a dream or maybe some images l was having in my head then it all came to me that the school children begging for lift.Lucky we were the only pass angers so l pleaded with the driver to pick these children.l wanted to interact with my new friends and started asking to some few about the location of their school....to my astonishment the driver told me these kids have been walking a distance of 3 kilometers and were left with about a kilometer to go...l was speechless because the area is a mining town and if chiefs were really selfless and there for the welfare of the people, they would be telling the various companies to provide schools buildings, portable drinking water, electricity and good roads to every community within these towns.
The interesting thing about these school kids was that they didn't know what 'subject' meant when l ask which subject was their favorite.l had to translate it into the local dialect before they could understand me..the boy said he wants to be a teacher and the sister also a nurse only because l said so...!!!
These boys on the left hand side also just close from school which is a shift system;morning and afternoon. The tall boy says he wants to become a Police Man and the smaller boy a Banker because he is very good at maths.Again the school feeding program does not reach these kids. These kids are happy to attain the highest level of education but if our leaders whom we entrust the authority does nothing but think about themselves then where is Ghana heading to.the next group of school kids to shock with in-depth knowledge was these kids on the right side..the one with back pack said he wants to be a Pastor  or President because he felt things were going the wrong way to him.if you are to listen to him you will see what l saw in him.He was full of wish saying that l encourage him to master in local proverbs. His face alone shows his inward maturity .......if you are reading this please help to make this post reach those in authority to help these amazing future leaders....Long Live Ghana!!!
